Abstract

News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors:“Buildings are one of the largest consumers of electricity and are responsible for a considerable portion ofharmful CO2 emissions into the environment. In the United States alone, buildings account f or approximately76% of all electricity consumption and greater th an 33% of emissions. Making buildings moreefficient is therefore a powerful tool to address climate change and reduce overall emissions. Heating,ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) in buildings is a significant portion of overall building energydemand. HVAC systems are used to control the indoor e nvironment of buildings to maintain safe andcomfortable conditions for building occupants despite variable external environmental conditions.
