Abstract

Reporters obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors:“An online system is an online platform that provides one or m ore online services. An example of an onlineservice is allowing users to perfor m transactions associated with items. The items may represent physical entities stored in a physical location. A user can place an order for purchasing items fr om participatingretailers via the online system, with the shopping being done b y a picker. Often times communicationbetween the picker and the user will often happen when some target items were not found by the pickerand the user needs t o make a decision to either pick a replacement or ask for a refund. Pickers typi callyneed to initiate the process, explain the situation by typing a message (s ometimes with an image), andask for customer approval, which is a manual and ti me consuming process. Alternatively, pickers can alsosimply start a replacement proposal push to save time, but it may not be the best user experience to havea lack of visibility and options.”
