In explaining how he selected this topic, author Aldo Mattos, CCP PSP FAACE, says, "For many years, I worked as a planner/scheduler at general contractors. Time-location schedules (linear schedules) have always fascinated me for their ability to convey information in a powerful, visual, straightforward way. However, the literature on time-location scheduling is insufficient and needs to be boosted." Aldo says the main takeaway he wants readers to get from his article is that "time-location scheduling is important in presenting the full schedule in one page (rather than in multiple-sheet bar charts) and its applicability in forensic analysis, allowing the analyst to identify production patterns, use the measured mile technique, and identify causes of delays." Aldo believes his article is "useful to anybody dealing with linear (rectilinear or repetitive works), either with mining, or an oil and gas, or a roadwork project."
