Wideband Cup Dielectric Resonator Antenna With Stable Omnidirectional Patterns

扫码查看
A wideband omnidirectional cup dielectricresonator antenna (CDRA) is designed by utilizing threemodes (DR TM_(01δ) , coil, and monopole modes) for thefirst time. It deploys the modified coil feeding structurecomprising four coil segments and two close-byprobes. The four coil segments provide an equivalentmagnetic-current loop and the two probes act as an electricmonopole. Thus, the modified feeding structure canexcite the DR TM_(01δ) mode and two neighbor resonancesextending the operating bandwidth. All of thesemodes have omnidirectional characteristics. To verify theidea, a CDRA is designed, fabricated, and measured. The CDRA is 0.61λ_0 ×0.32λ_0 (where λ_0 is the freespacewavelength at the center frequency) with a bandwidthof 67.7% (3.28-6.64 GHz). The antenna has stableomnidirectional radiation patterns, high radiation efficiencies, and a low cross-polarized level within the operatingbandwidth.
