Reporters obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors:“Technical Field“This disclosure relates generally to computer systems and, more specifically, t o various mechanismsfor authenticating users across different messaging channel s.“Description of the Related Art“Companies usually provide avenues to users that enable them to contact the comp anies in order toreceive assistance for a particular matter. For example, some companies use Apple Messages for Business™that enables a customer to start a co nversation with a company. Consequently, when a user seeks assistancefrom that company, the user can use iMessage® on their iPhone to start a conversation in w hich the usertexts messages with the company. That company may employ an indivi dual or a robot to reside onthe other side of the conversation and interact wit h the user. Other example avenues include ShortMessage Service (SMS), WhatsApp™ , Google Business Messages, etc. These different avenues of contactoften provid e different capabilities for enriching the conversation between the user and the company. Forexample, one avenue of contact might enable videos to be sent and received within a conversation whileanother avenue does not provide this capabi lity.”
