Abstract
Reporters obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors:“Diverse biological vision systems exist in nature. Natural co mpound eyes (CEs) with extraordinary visualcapabilities, such as wide field-of- view (FoV) and fast motion tracking, offer tremendous attraction forpractical a pplications especially for robotic systems. Inspired by this, a plethora of arti ficial CEs have beenwidely explored, which are mostly fabricated by transferrin g microlens array (MLA) on curved substratesand further integrated with commerc ial planar image sensors. In this case, the imaging ability of CEs ishighly lim ited by the tricky transfer process in which uniformity is difficult to control. And it inevitablycauses the mismatch between three-dimensional (3D) optical st ructures with underlying planar commercialimagers.
