No assignee for this patent application has been made.News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors:“Digital images (e.g., photos and/or videos) are oftentimes captured by cameras and stored on memory. Insome cases, those digital images a re shared with other systems that may process those images further. Insome case s, those images may be checked to see if they are duplicate image(s) and whether they need tobe stored in computer memory. In some systems that check for dupli cates, when a new image comes in,the system cross checks all pixel values acros s channels in all of the received images to an entire databaseof images. This m ay be extremely computationally expensive. Also, this method may not be sensitiv eto small adjustments to the images, such as, but not limited to, reversing, di fferent contrast, differentbrightness, slight movement or cropping, and/or othe r minor adjustments to the images.
