From the background information supplied by the inventors, news correspondents o btained the followingquote: “An automated call handling system, such as Interac tive voice response (IVR) system, is anautomated system designed to interact wi th callers by gathering required information and routing the calls to a particul ar recipient without the help of a human assistant. To reach the IVR system, cal lers mustdial a telephone number provided by a business they are trying to reac h and then get connected to an IVRsystem that plays pre-recorded voice menus to the callers. By navigating through the pre-recorded voicemenus, callers can ob tain specific information and services.
