More specifically, a s used herewithin, the term perception refersto detection and recognition of ob jects in a scene using sensory information. For example, when a personobserves a room by looking around the room, a person may detect a piece of furniture in t he room andrecognize it as a chair. In another example, a person hears an audio recording of many sounds, detectssome sounds being emitted by one entity and r ecognizing those sounds as a siren of an ambulance.Alternatively, the person ma y recognize the sounds as an identified popular song.
