Message from the Editor of Northwestern Naturalist: With the next issue, Spring 2021 (Volume 102, Number 1), we start year 102 of publishing peerreviewed original contributions concerned with the biology and ecology of vertebrates in the western United States and Canada. The Society for Northwestern Vertebrate Biology started in Seattle, Washington, in 1920, as the Pacific Northwest Bird and Mammal Society. From 1920 through 1988, the journal was known as the Murrelet. In 1988, the society's name was changed to Society for Northwestern Vertebrate Biology, and the journal name was changed to Northwestern Naturalist in 1989. The Murrelet- Northwestern Naturalist is one of the oldest (possibly 3rd oldest) regional journal in North America.
