Abstract

In this systematised review, we present a bibliographic analysis of the literature available on vanadium-based layered compounds. The keywords are not entirely standardised for all publications and topics covered. Numerous different synthesis approaches are presented in literature. The most common approaches involve mineralisers and annealing conditions above 800 °C for several days or weeks in the case of misfit layer compounds and below 60 min and below 650 °C for ferecrystals. We standardise all available structural data regarding the -lattice parameters (including sub/superlattices), misfit parameters and stacking, and compare them to each other. Furthermore, we show research possibilities for further investigations in this field of study (e.g. templated growth mechanism, phase equilibria, twelvefold symmetry).
