CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF Gentiana farreri

Gentiana farreri Balf.f.is a species of the Gentiana genus,Gentianaceae,and the whole plant is used as Chinese traditional medicine(CTM).It tastes bitter and has the effect of clearing heat and dampness[1].Gentiana farreri Balf.is often used to treat damp heat jaundice,sore throat,red eyes,-scrotal swelling,cholecystitis,fever,pneumonia,cough,gastritis,meningitis and other symptoms[2].As part of the continuous research on Chinese traditional medicine and Tibetan medicine,and also continuing work on plants of the genus Gentiana genus[3-6],in this paper five compounds were isolated and identified from n-butanol parts of Gentiana farreri Balf f for the first time.The whole plant of G.farreri was dried(4.0 kg),powdered,and extracted with industrial ethanol for four times,each time for 5 days,and concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain 700.3 g of total extract.The total extract was suspended in hot distilled water(60℃,1.5 L)and sequentially partitioned with petroleum ether(1.5 L × 4),ethyl acetate(1.5 L × 4),and n-butanol(1.5 L × 4),then concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain the petroleum ether extract(60 g),the ethyl acetate extract(66 g),and the n-butanol extract(150 g).
