LWB Refractories (formerly Baker and Wulfrath Refractories) has developed a new innovative product: clear-flow nozzles designed to prevent alumina clogging. This innovation is toe result of sever years of research and development with doloma-based refractories. Doloma-based clean-flow nozzles form a nor-wetting static boundary surface between the refractory and steel. Toe non-wetting surface is formed by low melting point eutectics resulting from the interaction of CaO and Al_2O_3. The non-wetting surface prevents the continual leaching of CaO into the system, thus preventing erosion.
