It might sound like an outrageous sug-gestion but as BHP looks for growth opportunities in its favoured future-fac ing commodities, it could do no better than buy South32. Given that it is only seven years since BHP loaded South32 with a fistful of its leftovers deemed non-core and then kicked its creation out the back door, it's a near-certainty that corporate pride would prevent re-acquisition.
