Spark-DAT is a new analytical tool employing the digital treatment of signals from individual electrical sparks to extract new and valuable information or filter out spurious signals. It produces a spectacular increase in analysis information material, enabling its use in new analytical applications. The first version was an off-line tool targeted on the development of new applications. The acquired spark-value series were simply exported to programs with mathematical capabilities. Both digital acquisition and processing algorithms are now fully integrated into the WinOE instrument software. Furthermore, WinOE processes these extra values just like conventional ones - for example, by checking them against product specifications or transmitting them to process control computers.
