Iron ore demand in China looks set to firm up in the coming weeks as produc tion curbs on steel mills ease following the conclusion of the Winter Olympics last weekend. Elevated seaborne cargo arrivals next month underpin the firmer de mand outlook for iron ore. Some 123 spot seaborne trades were concluded on a CFR China basis before the week-long Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday began on 31 January. This was up by 27% from the same period of 2021, Niki Wang, managing editor of iron ore at S&P Global Platts, said.
