As reported in our previous issue, Aston University is closing Wolfson Heat Treatment Centre at the end of the year and this is our final edition of the journal. Editor since the start, Alan J Hick indulges in a proud look back at some of the highlights from HEAT TREATMENT OF METALS 1974.1-2004.4, including major milestones for the Centre. "A short newsletter to keep our members informed would be a good idea". This suggestion, mooted at an early Wolfson Heat Treatment Centre planning meeting, was taken on board and expanded upon by a young Alan J Hick, ever enthusiastic to disseminate helpful information about our vital technology. Consequently, within twelve months of the Centre's establishment, a full-blown technical journal, HEAT TREATMENT OF METALS, to be an important and highly-fulfilling part of my life over the subsequent 31 years, was born.
