Australia has always been hard pushed to add value to its mineral products. An apparently imminent change in government will face the same obstacles. Australian Labor Party (ALP) trade and resources spokeswoman Madeleine King outlined a "transformative economic agenda" last week to an audience hosted by the Perth USAsia Centre at the University of Western Australia. King is slated to be a senior minister in an Australian government after a national election on May 21. Polls show the current opposition party (the ALP) led by Anthony Albanese winning convincingly.
