Abstract
Hydraena (s.str.) tekmanensis sp. n. is described from northeastern Turkey (Erzincan and Erzurum Provinces). It is tentatively assigned to the H. rufipes group {H. eichleri complex). More than 200 species of Hydraenidae have been recorded from Turkeyso far. More than 50 % of these, i.e. about 110 species, belong to the cosmopolitan genus Hydraena Kugelann, 1794. Seventy-seven species of Hydraena are known to be endemic in Turkey. The percentage of endemic species is going to increase in the future, because additional new endemic taxa are continuously being discovered (see e.g. Jach & Kasapoglu 2006).
