Renewable energy and electric vehicles (EVs) are set to drive growth in China's demand for rare earth elements (REEs), amid increasing demand for zero-emis sion transport and electricity as Beijing accelerates its decarbonisation drive to meet climate goals. Wind turbines and new-energy vehi cles (NEVs) - China's catch-all term for battery and hybrid EVs, fuel cell EVs and hydrogen internal-combustion engine vehicles, as well as vehicles powered by other alternative fuels - presently make up a combined 18.5% of China's REE consumption.
