Chemical research on plants is of great importance for the research and development of plants used as resources in many fields, especially regarding the non-edible and non-medicinal parts of plants.Previous investigations have shown that, compared with the chemicals and the bioactivity found in traditionally edible plants and the parts of plants used medicinally, many substances with new functions or known compounds with more activity have been found in the non-edible or non-medicinal parts of plants(1-3).It provides more possibilities for the comprehensive utilization and development of the whole plant.Annona squamosa L,is a deciduous tree in the genus Annona, family Annonaceae that grows in the tropics and is well known for its fruit(4).In China, the root of A.squamosa is used as a folk medicine to treat dysentery, depression, and some bone diseases(4),In recent years,as well as the fruit and roots, the chemicals and functions of many other parts of squamosa have been investigated. To date, more than 200 chemicals have been found from the roots, stem bark, leaves, fruit, fruit peel, and seeds of this plant, mainly annonaceous acetogenins, terpenes, alkaloids, cyclopeptides, and flavones, most of which have anticancer,anti-oxidant,antidiabetic,antihypertensive,hepatoprotective,antiparasitic,antimalarial,insecticidal,microbicidal,and molluscicidal activity(5).
