Abstract
The Chilean Pentatominae species are listed and catalogued; a total of 18 species have been accounted. Additionally 3 species present doubtful or incomplete records. Most of the species are endemic to South America; 2 species are considered introducedin Chile, and 6 species are exclusively Chilean. Pentatomidae Leach, 1815 is one of the largest families within the Heteroptera, with about 4100 species classified in 760 genera, and Pentatominae is the largest subfamily of Pentatomidae (Schuh & Slater1995). Species of Pentatominae are phytophages, and there are species of economic importance (Schaefer & Panizzi 2000), used for food and medicine (Hoffmann 1947), and used in current climatic change studies (Musolin 2007).
