Abstract

Biotite (sensu lato) is a widespread silicate hydrous mineral in various geological conditions with potential petrological and geochemical implications. However, due to the chemical and structural complexities of biotite, calculating biotite formula from routine EPMA data has been a challenging task for decades. We thank Baidya and Das (2021) for their comments on our method presented in Li et al. (2020), which inspired us to further consider the issues about the improvement of calculating biotite formula from EPMA data.
