The genus Thottea consists of 25 species (Aristolochiaceae family) distributed mainly in Southeast Asia. Some members of the genus Thottea are reported to have medicinal properties [1,2], Thottea grandiflora Rottb. is locally known as telinga kelawar or hempedu beruang in the Malaysia region. The roots are traditionally used to invigorate, break fevers, treat agues, and as a postpartum remedy [3]. A literature survey revealed that only one species of Thottea genus has been investigated for their essential oil, which is T. ponmudiana collected from India [4]. To the best of our knowledge, there is no report on the essential oil composition from the leaves of T grandiflora.
