Eregli Iron and Steel Works Co. (ERDEMIR), the largest steelmaker in Turkey, placed orders with Nippon Steel for the remodeling of an existing continuous pickling line and installation of a new pickling line on a turnkey basis.This project consists of the following three packages and will be implemented as a part of ERDEMIR's programs to expand capacity and improve the product quality of steel sheets.Remodeling of an existing continuous pickling line (800,000 t/y): The line continuously pickles hot cols after weld-joining them at the entry side. Remodeling will consist mainly of the work required for the change of pickling medium from sulfuric acid to hydrochloric acid and the renewal of pickling tanks from deep type tanks to improve pickling efficiency and operating cost.
