Marine endophytic fungi, including mangrove fungi, have attracted considerable interest as a potential source of bioactive natural products and have contributed significantly to drug discovery(1,2).One of the fungal genus that is especially productive with regard to the accumulation of a diverse array of mostly bioactive compounds is Pestalotiopsis(2,3).The literature has revealed that the most abundant metabolic types of genus Pestalotiopsis sp.are alkaloids, steroids, terpenoids, coumarins, chromones, quinines, and lactones. Most of them are potential leads for the treatment of human diseases and control of plant diseases.Bioassays have disclosed that antifungal(4),antimalaria(5),phytotoxic(6),cytotoxic(7),anti-HIV(8),antimicrobial(9),and plant-growth regulating(10)activities are the most notable bioactivities of secondary metabolites isolated from this genus. These compounds may have potential applications in modern medicine, agriculture, and the food industry.
