"WHY IS CANADIAN GEOGRAPHIC covering the Queen's Platinum Jubilee?" I can't tell you how many times I was asked this question over the five months we spent putting together our cover story for this special commemorative issue. The short answer is that Canadian Geographic has always covered the movements and milestones of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. After all, she is Queen of Canada. And it was this Queen who, in 1957, granted the Canadian Geographical Society permission to use the title "Royal" in its name, a powerful endorsement of the organization's significance.
