A group of US Democrat Senators has introduced legislation aimed at mod-ernising the country's Mining Act of 1872, legislation that was signed into law by former President and Civil War commanding general Ulysses S Grant. US Senator Martin Heinrich, a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, has introduced the Clean Energy Minerals Reform Act.
