Anglo American is hotly rumoured to be looking at a possible bid for the Khoemacau copper mine in Botswana, put on the auction block by private equity owner GNRI. Stories are doing the rounds that CEO Duncan Wanblad and his team are casting a slide rule over the asset, which is said to be worth about $1.5 billion. Khoemacau is situated in the highly prospective (but underexplored) Kalahari copper belt (KCB), which stretches into Namibia.
