Nippon Steel has long been involved in the manufacture and installation of cables for suspension and cable-stayed bridges in Japan. In order to extend such expertise, Nippon Steel signed with Jiangsu FASTEN Co., Ltd. in February 2001 an agreement to establish a joint venture mainly to manufacture cables for long bridges in Jiangsu, China.
