A new design of roll neck bearing can deliver up to 34 percent extra load capacity and longer life under severe lubrication conditions. Four row sealed tapered roller bearings are used primarily to support rolls in the rolling mule of steelworks. They are now required to achieve longer life under the adverse conditions of high loading and extreme shook loads, and also deal with the problem of water and scale ingress, which, because of its effect on lubricating conditions, probably affects bearing life the most NSK has dedicated substantial resources to this problem, and has now developed Extra-Capacity Sealed-Clean~(TM) roll neck bearings. The new extra capacity design delivers up to 34 per cent extra load capacity, higher reliability, longer life under severe lubrication conditions and easier handling.
