U.S. Steel will permanently phase out production at the cold-rolling and tin mills at its Fairless (Pa.) Works in the fourth quarter. Only the plant's hot-dip galvanizing line will operate after that. The cold and tin mills represent 1.5 million tons of capacity. The jobs of 600 workers will be cut. Only 100 people will remain to work on the galvanizing line.
