Abstract

In this letter, a new route for the convenient synthesis of selenophene-fused quinoline based heterocycle is described. Iron III chloride and dialkyl diselenides generated intramolecular cascade cyclization of methyl 6-methyl-2-(phenylbuta-1,3-diyn-1-yl)quinoline-3-carboxylate gives selenophene-fused quinoline based heterocycle derivatives in good yields.
