Clinical and laboratory investigations are conducted to provide a better understnading and more effective treatment of myocardial infarction. Patients with acute myocardial infarction are carefully characterized by clinical,hemodynamic, electrophysiologic,and biochemical parameters during and following hospitalization. In addition,the following specific topics are being studied: admission hemodynamics;prognostic indices;isoenzymes; intraventricular conduction disturbances;new patient monitoring systems;digital autofluoroscopy;blood clotting and fibrinolysis;evaluation of myocardial performance immediately following revascularization;anatomic physiologic and metabolic evaluation of coronary circulation after acute myocardial infarction;long-term follow-up studies;pathology support;data management support which includes image processing.
