Model of inclusion removal during RH degassing of steel

    Yuji Miki
    9页
查看更多>>摘要:Mathematical models are applied to simulatemultiphase, turbulent fluid flow in a RH degassing vessel usingFLUENT, including the motion of molten steel, injected argon gas, inclusion particles, and the top free surface. Predicted inclusionremoval rates are validated with measurements based on samplescollected from operating degassers. The results quantify theimportant role of argon gas bubbles on the inclusion removal mechanism.

CSP plant start-up at steel dynamics inc.

    Tony FauldsDavid Blevins
    6页
查看更多>>摘要:On November 10, 1995 steel dynamics Inc. melted andcast a heat of steel at its greenfield compact strip production plant, located in butler, Indiana. This followed a thirteen monthconstruction and cold commissioning period.

The Conversion of Dofasco's No 1 CC from 254 mm to 216 mm

    Gary D. Boudreau
    3页
查看更多>>摘要:The conversion of Dofasco's slab caster to 216millimetres was part of Dofasco's primary facilities optimizationproject. The goal of the project was to increase steelmaking capacitywith the least capital cost. This paper describes the major equipmentmodifications that were carried out during the caster conversion.

Three-phase (steel, slag, gas) modeling of the CAS-OB process

    Lage Jonsson Carl Erik Grip
    14页
查看更多>>摘要:A mathematical model of the CAS-OB process hasbeen developed. The model is based on fundamental transportequations and includes the solution of three phases (liquid steel, liquid slag and gas). Model predictions have been compared tophotographs of the open eye size of the gas plume and agreement hasbeen found to be good.

Developing slag control practices at acme steel company

    Randy Jones Robert Koffron
    4页
查看更多>>摘要:Acme steel has implemented a Tetron-based slagcontrol process in the Basic Oxygen Furnace at its Riverdale, Illinois, facility. The process utilizes the vortex-inhibiting properties of theTetron Slag Control shapes to increase steel yield and to reducefurnace slag carryover to the ladles.

Physical modeling of BOF slag splashing

    Ajay K. GargKent D. Peaslee
    10页
查看更多>>摘要:Recently, slag splashing has been used successfully toenhance the campaign life with reduced gunning in several BOFs.Most of these BOF shops however, determine their own splashingparameters based on results of experiments carried out through trial and error.

Installation and start-up of stag splashing at algoma steel Inc.

查看更多>>摘要:In 1995, Algoma steel decided that the slag splashingprocess was a proven technology, and that it would provide a rapidreturn on investment. Following from this decision Algoma opted fora turn-key installation of the equipment and facilities required toimplement slag splashing.
