The biobanking field today is characterised by heterogeneous entities that could be classified according to many different categories. This article aims to outline the process of the gradual embedding of the field of biobanking in the European Union (EU) from the point of view of the number of high-quality international research projects related to biobanking or biobanks as such. To identify these research projects, data from the European Commission's (EC's) database on research and innovation projects financed from Framework Programmes (FPs) of the European Union and the Horizon programme were used. It was found that the number of research and innovation projects in which biobanks played an important role more than doubled between 1994 and 2021. The highest increase in the number of biobank-related research and innovation projects occurred between 2002 - 2006 and 2007 - 2013. Several leading countries, in terms of the number of biobank related research projects, emerged during the whole period. The main actors were all countries of western Europe, characterised mostly by above-average performance in indicators such as GDP per capita, Human Development Index (HDI) or Euro Health Consumer Index (EHCI).

We find the trading volumes of different investors in the index futures market affect futures returns through information. The impact on index futures returns in the current period is small, showing the ability of foreign institutional investors to quickly respond to negative news and obtain information advantages. Further, from the MSE and QLIKE loss functions, individual investors use EGARCH(1,1), domestic institutional investors TGARCH(1,1), and foreign institutional investors GARCH(1,1). Further, the imbalance of buy and sell orders is suitable for the fluctuation of futures returns using EGARCH(1,1).

The operational difficulties of companies and organizations, as well as the closure of universities, schools, training courses, are all affecting the entrepreneurial and the learning progress on using workers time and learners facilities to develop their knowledge and to build up their skills. In particular, free time of institutions' closure can become a golden opportunity for learning and progresses in virtual education while adopting e-learning modes of information technology (IT) and supporting the distribution of knowledge and information for training and education. Since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak only few studies have been devoted on studying the impact of cultural characteristics, economic situations, skills and knowledge on the development and the wider human wellbeing. At this study the literature production of economic development was investigated in the light of the ignored, but critically important, issue of globalized inclination to acquire knowledge and skills. The measurable indicators of comparing these results were that of: chronological, geographical, languages of reports' written, subject areas, and keywords, accordingly. Besides, the three domains of technology, environment - ecology, and socio-economics were conveyed, while the key-determinants of knowledge and skills acquisition were also analyzed. From a managerial point of view the simultaneous affection of cultural characteristics, economic simulations, skills and knowledge aspects were considered as positive and significant, thus, supporting managers to better understand the necessities of IT development and managing a highly qualified workforce to shift the thread of the COVID-19 era while performing feasible learning management to solidify workers' education through formal and inhouse education.

查看更多>>摘要:Inflation is a problem in all facets of life and all economic entities. The government of any nation is concerned with ensuring that her plans are not frustrated by unpredictable and galloping prices. This paper studies the dynamic causal relationship between inflation rate (measured by consumer price index (CPI)), exchange rate, gross domestic product (GDP), money growth, and oil export in Nigerian during 2005: Q1 to 2019: Q4. The ARDL bounds testing approach and error correction model were used to verify whether there was a long-term relationship between the inflation rate and four determinants (exchange rate, GDP, money growth, and oil export). The results of our study showed that the current inflation CPI, the exchange rate, GDP, and money growth would still affect the next quarter's inflation rate in Nigeria. However, the oil export has no significant effect on the inflation rate. Moreover, we find the long-run cointegration relationship between inflation CPI, the exchange rate, and money. The cointegration relationship will be achieved in a short time (during the next two quarters of the year).

Price Volatility for Selected Agricultural Commodities in Ethiopia: Evidence from GARCH Models

查看更多>>摘要:This study models the volatility of returns for selected agricultural commodity prices in Ethiopia using the generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity (GARCH) approach. GARCH family models, specifically threshold GARCH and exponential GARCH were employed to analyze the time varying volatility of selected agricultural commodities prices from 2010 to 2021. The data analysis results revealed that, out of the GARCH specifications, the EGARCH model with the normal distributional assumption of residuals was a better fit model for the price volatility of "teff" and "red pepper" in which their return series reacted differently to the "good" and "bad" news. The study indicated the existence of a leverage effect, which implied that the "bad" news could have a larger effect on volatility than the "good" news of the same magnitude, and the asymmetric term was statistically significant.

查看更多>>摘要:This study presents an overview of estimation methods to predict the actual project duration of Greek highway projects. Emphasis is given to the selection of the appropriate parameters that correlate with the actual project duration and to compare the performances of the main two methods, the linear regression (LR) with the neural network models (NN) based on data available at the bidding stage. In the context of the current research, thirty-seven highway projects were examined, constructed in Greece with similar available data like the extent, the type of work packages and the significance. Selection and ranking variables through correlation analyses using SPSS 25 has been carried on, in order to identify the most significant project variables. These include archeological findings, type of terrain, land expropriation, the existence of bridge, tunnel and embankment. Next step was the use of WEKA application, that highlighted the most efficient subset of variables. After the definition and grouping of the variables for actual duration prediction, these were used as input data for linear regression models (LR) and neural network models (NN). Various models have been created from each investigated method. While their performance and the comparison of linear regression and neural network models to estimate the actual duration of Greek highway projects are presented in this paper. Results' discussion and conclusions along with limitations and further research are appropriately analyzed.

Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, Fuzhou's three major industries (the primary industry is agriculture, the secondary is industry and the tertiary is the service industry) have undergone substantial structural changes: the tertiary industry now contributes to half of the total gross domestic product, and the era of the service economy has arrived. This paper provides a comprehensive review of Fuzhou's service industry development, and it includes a comparative analysis of service industry development between coastal and inner Fuzhou. Furthermore, this paper identifies gaps and insufficiencies in Fuzhou's service industry and provides suggestions for promoting the high-quality development of the modern service industry in Fuzhou from the perspective of service sectors such as finance, retail, and logistics.
