查看更多>>摘要:2024 FEB 20 (NewsRx) – By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning Daily News – A multi-disciplinary research team specializing in canine behavior and Artificial Intelligence has developed an AI algorithm that automates the high-stakes process of evaluating potential working dogs’ personalities. They hope to help dog training agencies more quickly and accurately assess which animals are likely to succeed long term in careers such as aiding law enforcement and assisting persons with disabilities. The personality test could also be used for dog-human matchmaking, helping shelters with proper placement, thus reducing the number of animals returned for not being a good fit with their adoptive families. The scientists, from the University of East London and University of Pennsylvania, conducted the research on behalf of their sponsor Dogvatar, a Miami, Fla.-based canine technology startup. They an- nounced the dog personality testing algorithm results in their paper, “An Artificial Intelligence Approach To Predicting Personality Types In Dogs,” published Jan. 29, 2024 in Scientific Reports.

According to news reporting out of Chicago, Illinois, by NewsRx editors, research stated, “A woman’s breasts are integrally tied to her identity and sense of femininity. Despite extensive study of breast aesthetics, there is no discrete formula for the “ideal breast” to guide the aesthetic surgeon.” The news correspondents obtained a quote from the research from Rush University Medical Center: “Racial and cultural differences heavily influence preferences in breast morphology. Artificial intelligence (AI) is ubiquitous in modern culture and may aid in further understanding ideal breast aesthetics. This study analyzed AI-generated images of aesthetically ideal breasts, evaluated for morphologic differences based on race, and compared findings to the literature. An openly accessible AI image-generator platform was used to generate images of aesthetically ideal Caucasian, African American, and Asian breasts in three-quarter profile and frontal views using simple text prompts. Breast measurements were obtained and compared between each racial cohort and to previously described ideal breast parameters. Twenty-five images were analyzed per racial cohort, per pose (150 total). Caucasian breasts were observed to fit nicely into previously described ideal breast templates. However, upper to lower pole ratios, nipple angles, upper pole slope contours, nipple areolar complex positions, and areolar size were observed to have statistically significant differences between racial cohorts.”

According to news originating from Tianjin, People’s Republic of China, by NewsRx correspondents, research stated, “This paper investigates an impedance-based iterative learning sliding mode control scheme for robot-assisted bathing, taking into consideration scenarios with unknown model parameters. Initially, the utilization of impedance control is not confined to merely adjusting the desired trajectory but is also instrumental in ensuring active compliance control during the robot-assisted bathing procedure.” Funders for this research include National Key R&D Program of China, Hebei Province Special research and development plan project.

According to news reporting originating in Heilongjiang, People’s Republic of China, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, “The KangDuo surgical robot (KD-SR-01) was recently developed in China. This study aims to evaluate the short-term outcomes of KD-SR-01 for colorectal cancer surgery.” The news reporters obtained a quote from the research from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, “This is a multicentre randomised controlled noninferiority trial conducted in three centers in China. Enrolled patients were randomly assigned at a 1:1 ratio to receive surgery using the KD-SR-01 system (KD group) or the da Vinci Xi (DV) robotic system (DV group). The primary endpoint was the success rate of operation. The second endpoints were surgical outcomes, pathological outcomes, and postoperative outcomes. Between July 2022 and May 2023. A total of 100 patients were included in the trial and randomly assigned to the KD group (50 patients) and the DV group (50 patients). All cases were completed successfully without conversion to laparoscopic surgery. The time to flatus and the incidence of postoperative complications of Clavien-Dindo grade Ⅱ or higher grade were comparable between the two groups. Surgeons reported a high level of comfort with the KD-SR-01 system. In the subgroup analysis of different operative procedures, there were no significant differences in docking time, console time, blood loss, and the length of the incision for extraction between the two groups. There were no differences in pathological outcomes including maximum tumor diameter, circumferential resection margin, distal resection margin, and number of harvested lymph nodes.”

查看更多>>摘要:2024 FEB 20 (NewsRx) – By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning Daily News Daily News – A new study on cyborg and bionic systems is now available. According to news origi- nating from Tokyo, Japan, by NewsRx editors, the research stated, “The conventional electrohydrodynamic (EHD) pump is limited to pumping functional and dielectric liquids, which restricts its applications in fields like microfluidics, food safety, and materials production.” Our news editors obtained a quote from the research from Tokyo Institute of Technology: “In this study, we present a flexible water pump driven by EHD fluid, achieved by integrating valveless elements into the fluidic channel. Our approach leverages the water-EHD interface to propel the immiscible aqueous liquid and reciprocate this process using the nozzle-diffuser system. All components of the water pump are digitally fabricated and assembled. The valveless parts are created using a laser cutting machine. Additionally, we develop a model for the EHD pump and nozzle-diffuser system to predict the generated flow rate, considering factors such as the asymmetrical performance of the EHD pump, pulse frequency, applied voltage, and structural parameters.”
