The patent's assignee for patent number 11994861 is Kache.AI (San Francisco, Cal ifornia, United States). News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors: "Driving a vehicle, in particular, a semi-truck or load-car rying vehicle requires a great deal of attention from the driver. New vehicles a nd trucks are trying to alleviate some of the burden of driving by introducing s ome level of autonomy with the vehicle. Self-driving is one form of autonomy bei ng developed. Unfortunately, current self-driving vehicles require a great deal of hardware and a suite of different sensors to function effectively or safely. This additional hardware increases the cost for the self-driving/autonomous syst ems and slows adoption of this technology."

Patent number 11995463 is assigned to Marvell Asia Pte Ltd. (Singapore, Singapor e). The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by the inventors: "Applied Machine Learning (ML) is a booming fiel d that utilizes a cascade of layers of nonlinear processing units and algorithms for feature extraction and transformation with a wide variety of usages and app lications. ML typically involves two phases, training, which uses a rich set of training data to train a plurality of machine learning models, and inference, wh ich applies the trained machine learning models to actual applications. Each of the two phases poses a distinct set of requirements for its underlying infrastru ctures. Various infrastructures may be used, e.g., graphics processing unit (GPU ), a central processing unit (CPU), a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), an A pplication Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC), etc. Specifically, the training p hase focuses on, as a non-limiting example, GPU or ASIC infrastructures that sca le with the trained models and retraining frequency, wherein the key objective o f the training phase is to achieve high performance and reduce training time. Th e inference phase, on the other hand, focuses on infrastructures that scale with the applications, user, and data, and the key objective of the inference phase is to achieve energy (e.g., performance per watt) and capital (e.g., return on i nvestment) efficiency.

The assignee for this patent, patent number 11992955, is Waste Robotics Inc. (Qu ebec, Canada). Reporters obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors: "Manual sorting of items according to different item categorie s, for example and without being limitative, in a waste recycling facility, has always been a challenge. "Historically, sorting has been performed manually by workers using their judgme nt to identify the items of different categories and using their hands to manipu late the items and perform the sorting. For example and without being limitative , the workers identified items being part of selected categories (such as for ex ample and without being limitative, paper, plastic, glass or the like-or subcate gories thereof), grabbed the identified items and tossed the items in a receptac le corresponding the specific item category.

No assignee for this patent application has been made. News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors: "Robotic grippers are used in a wide variety of application s, such as packaging, manufacturing, food preparation, and other fields. Many ro botic grippers have historically been made of hard or otherwise noncompliant ma terials, but recently "soft" elastomeric robotic actuators (or fingers) have bec ome widely available. Soft actuators have an advantage over hard actuators in th at they can conform to the target object being manipulated. This means that one robotic actuator can be used to securely grasp target objects of a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and weights without damaging them-a balance that is difficult for a hard gripper to achieve.

'Solar Panel Cleaning System' in Patent Application Approval Process (USPTO 2024 0178787)

查看更多>>摘要:By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning Daily News Daily News-A patent application by the inventors DAHAN, Aviel (Karmiel, IL); FRIEDRIECH, Jacob (TIVON, IL); TAVOR, Avraham (YOKNE AM ILIT, IL), filed on November 28, 2023, was made available online on May 30, 2 024, according to news reporting originating from Washington, D.C., by NewsRx co rrespondents. This patent application has not been assigned to a company or institution. The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by the inventors: "Solar panel cleaning is a major factor in the e fficiency of solar panels, as the accumulation of dirt on the panel surface bloc ks sun radiation, thus reducing the electricity production of the panel. Solar p anel manufacturers recommend frequent cleaning of the panels to maintain optimal electricity production and long-term durability of the system. Today there are various methods for cleaning solar panels, either by manual means, fixed sprinkl er means or automatic means. Manual means include manual scrubbing of the panels with mechanical brush and/or water pressure, using clean water or a cleaning so lution. This method provides high level of cleaning, but is an expensive method due to the use of massive manual labor, and is extremely risky when cleaning pan els which are installed at high places, which is usually the case in most instal lations. The risks and cost of this method result in low frequency of cleaning, making it less effective in maintaining high productivity of electricity by the panels. Fixed sprinkler cleaning means include a comprehensive array of water sp rinklers, which are installed around the edges of the solar panels after their c onstruction. The sprinklers are connected via a net of water pipes, providing wa ter pressure to the complete array of sprinklers. The sprinklers are then activa ted on a timely basis, creating a flood of water on the surface of the panels, c ausing the dirt to drift down along the natural slope of the panels. This method consumes a lot of material and labor for assembly and installation, suffers fro m low pressure of water due to the plurality of sprinklers that consume water, a nd can only create a flood of water which is not effective in breaking and remov ing all types of dirt. Automatic means for cleaning include various robotic syst ems installed on the panels, which are automatically driven along the panel arra y and clean the panels with a spray of water, which can be accompanied by mechan ical cleaning of the panels surface. These means provide high level of cleaning, yet their disadvantages are high costs, a technically complex system for instal lation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair, including sensors, motors, gene rators and controllers.

This patent application has not been assigned to a company or institution. The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by the inventors: "Automated or robotic work tools such as robotic lawnmowers are becoming increasingly more popular and so is the use of the robo tic work tool in various types of operational areas. "Such operational areas, in particular for robotic work tools being robotic lawn mowers, often include irregular surfaces and boundaries as well as several featu res, such as houses, trees, flower beds and so on. The operational areas may als o comprise one or more work areas that are connected by transport paths. "As such, the traditional manners of defining a boundary is becoming more and mo re complicated and time-consuming. In order to reduce the time needed more and m ore advanced technologies are employed, which may be difficult for the average u ser to familiarize with, especially since the technical tools are only used at t he installation phase of a robotic work tool.
