According to news reporting from Dublin, Ireland, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, "Malaria is an extremely malig nant disease and is caused by the bites of infected female mosquitoes. This dise ase is not only infectious among humans, but among animals as well." The news correspondents obtained a quote from the research from University Colle ge Dublin, "Malaria causes mild symptoms like fever, headache, sweating and vomi ting, and muscle discomfort; severe symptoms include coma, seizures, and kidney failure. The timely identification of malaria parasites is a challenging and cha otic endeavor for health staff. An expert technician examines the schematic bloo d smears of infected red blood cells through a microscope. The conventional meth ods for identifying malaria are not efficient. Machine learning approaches are e ffective for simple classification challenges but not for complex tasks. Further more, machine learning involves rigorous feature engineering to train the model and detect patterns in the features. On the other hand, deep learning works well with complex tasks and automatically extracts low and high-level features from the images to detect disease. In this paper, EfficientNet, a deep learning-based approach for detecting Malaria, is proposed that uses red blood cell images. Ex periments are carried out and performance comparison is made with pre-trained de ep learning models. In addition, k-fold cross-validation is also used to substan tiate the results of the proposed approach."

Key performance metrics such as AUC, F1 score, recal l, and precision are used to evaluate the predictive strength of different facto rs on ACEs. Family structures, especially non-traditional forms such as single p arenting, and the frequency of relocating to a new address are determined as key predictors of ACEs. The final model, a neural network, achieved an AUC of 0.788 , a precision score of 0.683, and a recall of 0.707, indicating its effectivenes s in accurately identifying ACE cases. The model's ROC and PR curves showed a hi gh true positive rate for detecting children with two or more ACEs while also po inting to difficulties in classifying single ACE instances accurately."

According to news reporting originating from Chemnitz University of Technology by NewsRx correspondents, research stated, "Industrial robots (IR) a re a cost-effective and highly flexible alternative to machining centres." The news reporters obtained a quote from the research from Chemnitz University o f Technology: "Nevertheless, their use for separating processes in production te chnology is limited because of their low structural rigidity, which results in c omparatively low accuracies. The vibration behaviour of the robots is a major ch allenge to increasing accuracy, as it can vary significantly depending on the po sition of the tool centre point (TCP) in the workspace. To apply vibration compe nsation, it is necessary to be able to describe the vibration behaviour of the r obot with sufficient accuracy. This article presents a new approach, utilising p arametric FEM simulation to generate a state space description of the robot. The simulation captures the pose-dependent vibration behaviour of each axis, which is then integrated into a downstream system simulation, resulting in a comprehen sive description of the robot's vibration behaviour. After being finely tuned, t he model demonstrates excellent alignment with the experimentally determined beh aviour."

According to news originating from Yancheng, People's Republic of China, by NewsRx correspondents, research stated, "Intelligent applepicking robots can significantly improve the efficiency of apple picking, and the realiz ation of fast and accurate recognition and localization of apples is the prerequ isite and foundation for the operation of picking robots. Existing apple recogni tion and localization methods primarily focus on object detection and semantic s egmentation techniques." The news reporters obtained a quote from the research from Yancheng Teachers Uni versity: "However, these methods often suffer from localization errors when faci ng occlusion and overlapping issues. Furthermore, the few instance segmentation methods are also inefficient and heavily dependent on detection results. Therefo re, this paper proposes an apple recognition and localization method based on RG B-D and an improved SOLOv2 instance segmentation approach. To improve the effici ency of the instance segmentation network, the EfficientNetV2 is employed as the feature extraction network, known for its high parameter efficiency. To enhance segmentation accuracy when apples are occluded or overlapping, a lightweight sp atial attention module is proposed. This module improves the model position sens itivity so that positional features can differentiate between overlapping object s when their semantic features are similar. To accurately determine the apple-pi cking points, an RGB-D-based apple localization method is introduced. Through co mparative experimental analysis, the improved SOLOv2 instance segmentation metho d has demonstrated remarkable performance. Compared to SOLOv2, the F1 score, mAP , and mIoU on the apple instance segmentation dataset have increased by 2.4, 3.6 , and 3.8%, respectively. Additionally, the model's Params and FLOP s have decreased by 1.94M and 31 GFLOPs, respectively."

According to news originating from Colby College by New sRx correspondents, research stated, "This study investigates how postsecondary learners employ generative AI, specifically ChatGPT, to support their self-direc ted learning (SDL) for writing purposes. Following a sequential mixed methods de sign, we analyzed 384 survey responses and 10 semi-structured interviews with po stsecondary writers." The news editors obtained a quote from the research from Colby College: "Finding s suggest that the major learning task that the learners used ChatGPT for writin g is brainstorming and seeking inspiration for ideas. While the entering motivat ion for using ChatGPT varies from curiosity about innovative technologies to ful filling academic requirements, such entering motivation transformed into task mo tivation when the learners perceived the potential benefits of ChatGPT for assis ting their writing. In terms of self-management, participants mostly demonstrate d a high responsibility towards their own learning with ChatGPT and employed var ious strategies for SDL. Although survey respondents demonstrated a comparativel y low level of self-monitoring, most interviewees claimed that they critically r eflected on their learning process and validated information provided by ChatGPT . There are mixed opinions regarding whether the writing skills have improved as a result of using ChatGPT. Some participants suggested that the benefits brough t by ChatGPT, such as alleviating social pressure and receiving instant feedback at any time, encouraged them to spend more time practicing writing and making r evisions."

According to news originating from Lappeenranta, Finland, by NewsRx correspondents, research stated, "The consumer Internet of T hings (IoT) applications in particular smart cities are mostly equipped with Int ernet-connected networked devices to improve city operations by giving access to a massive amount of valuable information. However, these smart devices in a sma rt city environment mostly use public channels to access and share data among di fferent participants." Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from LUT University, "Th is has introduced a great interest in using authentication and key agreement (AK A) mechanisms and intrusion detection systems (IDS) based on artificial intellig ence (AI) techniques. However, most of the AKA mechanisms have high computation and communication costs and cannot be trusted completely. On the other hand, the AI-based IDS are treated as blackbox by the security analyst due to their inabi lity to explain the reasons behind the decision. In this direction, we have inte grated blockchain-based AKA mechanism with explainable artificial intelligence ( XAI) for securing smart city-based consumer applications. Specifically, first, t he participating entities communicate with each other in a secure manner to exch ange data using a blockchain-based AKA mechanism. On the other hand, we have use d SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) mechanism to explain and interpret the pr ominent features that are most influential in the decision."
