According to news reporting originating in Moscow, Russia, by Ne wsRx journalists, research stated, “Ceramic materials with negative and close -t o -zero coefficients of thermal expansion may open the avenue to the technologie s that have so far been constrained by physical limitations concerned with the t hermal stress or with the insufficient structural stability. Two important chara cteristics of NTE materials which could be used for the evaluation of the possib le area and limitations of the sphere of application for negative thermal expans ion (NTE) materials are the linear thermal expansion coefficient and the transit ion temperature from monoclinic to orthorhombic phase.” The news reporters obtained a quote from the research from the A.N. Frumkin Inst itute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry, “In this study, the machine le arning methods were involved in the analysis of experimental data for NTE oxide ceramics of A 2 M 3 O 12 family (where M is Mo 6 + , W 6 + , V 5 + or P 5 + whil e A position may be accommodated by the wide range of metal cations). The models are characterized by the following statistical coefficients: the determination coefficient R 2 = 0.81 and prediction error RMSE = 1.170 for linear thermal expa nsion coefficient; the corresponding parameters for the phase transition tempera ture were assessed as 0.81 and 82.239, respectively. Ionic conductivity in this class of compounds has been discussed as a tandem functional characteristic, emp hasizing the role of anharmonicity in both characteristics. The role of synthesi s route and defect chemistry in NTE was analyzed. A conclusion on the expected e nhancement of NTE resulted from the intentional introduction of cation A vacanci es has been made.”

According to news reporting originating from Canton, Ohio, by NewsRx correspondents, research stated, “Artificial intelligence (AI) in health care is the ability of a computer to perform tasks typically associated with cli nical care (e.g. medical decision-making and documentation). AI will soon be int egrated into an increasing number of healthcare applications, including elements of emergency department (ED) care.” Our news editors obtained a quote from the research from U.S. Acute Care Solutio ns, “Here, we describe the basics of AI, various categories of its functions (in cluding machine learning and natural language processing) and review emerging an d potential future use-cases for emergency care. For example, AI-assisted sympto m checkers could help direct patients to the appropriate setting, models could a ssist in assigning triage levels, and ambient AI systems could document clinical encounters. AI could also help provide focused summaries of charts, summarize e ncounters for hand-offs, and create discharge instructions with an appropriate l anguage and reading level. Additional use cases include medical decision making for decision rules, real-time models that predict clinical deterioration or seps is, and efficient extraction of unstructured data for coding, billing, research, and quality initiatives.”

According to news reporting out of Suzhou, People’s Republic of China, by NewsRx editors, research stated, “Spinal fractures in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) mainly present as instability, involving all three columns of the spine, and su rgical intervention is often considered necessary. However, in AS patients, the significant alterations in bony structure and anatomy result in a lack of identi fiable landmarks, which increases the difficulty of pedicle screw implantation.” Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from the Second Affiliat ed Hospital of Soochow University, “Therefore, we present the clinical outcomes of robotic-assisted percutaneous fixation for thoracolumbar fractures in patient s with AS. A retrospective review was conducted on a series of 12 patients diagn osed with AS. All patients sustained thoracolumbar fractures between October 201 8 and October 2022 and underwent posterior robotic-assisted percutaneous fixatio n procedures. Outcomes of interest included operative time, intra-operative bloo d loss, complications, duration of hospital stay and fracture union. The clinica l outcomes were assessed using the visual analogue scale (VAS) and Oswestry Disa bility Index (ODI). To investigate the achieved operative correction, pre- and p ostoperative radiographs in the lateral plane were analyzed by measuring the Cob b angle. The 12 patients had a mean age of 62.8 ± 13.0 years and a mean follow-u p duration of 32.7 ± 18.9 months. Mean hospital stay duration was 15 ± 8.0 days. The mean operative time was 119.6 ± 32.2 min, and the median blood loss was 50 (50, 250) ml. The VAS value improved from 6.8 ± 0.9 preoperatively to 1.3 ± 1.0 at the final follow-up (P <0.05). The ODI value improved f rom 83.6 ± 6.1% preoperatively to 11.8 ± 6.6% at the latest follow-up (P <0.05). The average Cobb angle change d from 15.2 ± 11.0 pre-operatively to 8.3 ± 7.1 at final follow-up (P <0.05). Bone healing was consistently achieved, with an average healing time of 6 (5.3, 7.0) months. Of the 108 screws implanted, 2 (1.9%) were imp roperly positioned. One patient experienced delayed nerve injury after the opera tion, but the nerve function returned to normal upon discharge. Posterior roboti c-assisted percutaneous internal fixation can be used as an ideal surgical treat ment for thoracolumbar fractures in AS patients.”
查看更多>>摘要:By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning Daily News Daily News – A new study on Robotics is now availab le. According to news reporting out of Harbin, People’s Republic of China, by Ne wsRx editors, research stated, “In object manipulation, movements are inherently restricted by object geometry and dynamics. Humans use an intuitive understandi ng of physics while grasping objects, resulting in an efficient application of m anipulation force.” Financial support for this research came from National Natural Science Foundatio n of China (NSFC). Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from the Harbin Institut e of Technology, “This involves a ‘common sense’ awareness of how objects behave in the physical world-a fundamental aspect of human perception. Drawing inspira tion from intuitive physics, we introduce a novel task-oriented grasp framework, A2G, to select force-saving grasps for manipulation tasks and can be generalize d with objects with the same physics manipulation logic. The framework trains a neural network that associates manipulation force trends with the point clouds o f the target object to imitate human intuitive physics perception. Furthermore, we integrate a grasp pose filter to acquire improved grasp poses for manipulatio n tasks.”
