'Mixed Reality System With Acoustic Event Detection, Adaptive Anchors For Object Placement, And Improved Led Design' in Patent Application Approval Process (USP TO 20240371364)

    117-121页
查看更多>>摘要:This patent application has not been assigned to a company or institution. The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied bythe inventors: “Devices such as artificial reality headsets, sm art glasses, smart watches, and others usermachine learning models for making v arious types of predictions. The machine learning models may beused for object recognition in images, for speech recognition, and so on. For example, a device may respondto a wake word and a machine learning model may be used for recogniz ing the wake word. These machinelearning models may have large number of parame ters, for example, several million parameters. Due tophysical size limitations, such devices have small computing power and small memory for storing data. Asa result, such devices may not be able to store large machine learning models or multiple machine learningmodels for processing different type of information.

'Systems And Methods For Real-Time Analysis Of Inhaled Particles' in Patent Appl ication Approval Process (USPTO 20240369464)

In addition to health concerns for healthy adults, the use of ENDSamong the youth population and those with underlying lung conditions is particularly of concern (Overbeeket al., 2020, Bowler et al., 2017). Since 2018, serious pulmonary adv erse effects from use of ENDS havebeen noted to be the rise. In 2019, the Unite d States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) begun investigating a national outbreak of EC or vaping pro duct use-associated lung injury (EVALI) (Reagan-Steiner et al., 2020). EVALI led to hospitalizations,as a result of serious acute to subacute lung injury, and fatalities. Alpha-tocopheryl acetate (also knownas vitamin E acetate [hereafter referred to as VEA]), a dietary compound discovered to be used a diluentin some cannabis-containing ECs and vaping products, has b een strongly linked with the EVALI outbreak(Blount et al., 2020, Krishnasamy et al., 2020, Duffy et al., 2020). Thus far, the specific cause(s) ofEVALI is unk nown; however, the analyses of products and patient samples has implicated a rol e for VEA.Despite this, studies on how VEA can lead to EVALI have been sparse a nd limited to inhalation exposure oflaboratory murine models to EC aerosols (Bh at et al., 2020), challenging human bronchial and monocyticleukemia-derived cel l lines with EC liquid (e-liquid) (Muthumalage et al., 2020), or focused on solu bilityand thermal decomposition of VEA (Wu and O’Shea, 2020, Kozlovich et al., 2021).

(Bedford,Massachusetts, United States).News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors:“The invention generally relates to object processing syste ms and relates in particular to object processingsystems such as automated stor age and retrieval systems, distribution center systems, and sortationsystems th at are used for processing a variety of objects.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Future of (Quantitative) Social Science

查看更多>>摘要:By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning DailyNews Daily News – According to news reporting based on a preprint abstract, our journalists obtained thefollowing quote sourced from os f.io:“This briefing note explores the transformative potential of Artificial Intellig ence (AI) for quantitativesocial science. It provides an overview of recent adv ancements, outlines possible future scenarios, and examinesthe opportunities an d challenges that AI introduces to the field. Opportunities include substantialgains in productivity across the research process: notably in data analysis, vis ualisation, and dissemination.Researchers could thus spend more time focusing o n research and less time on administrative orrepetitive tasks. Other opportunit ies include using AI algorithms to analyse the increasing vastness ofdata obtai ned in surveys; using AI to improve prediction; and efficiency gains in survey o r experimental design/deployment. Challenges include the potential for a vast in crease in low-quality publications, especiallyif academic incentives remain mis aligned toward quantity rather than quality of research outputs, aswell as the broader existential risks AI may pose.
