查看更多>>摘要:The seal is a special form of artistic expression in Chinese painting,and it is the essence of Chinese traditional culture that been handed down from ancient times to the present. The seal is the last step in completing a Chinese painting. The aim of this research is to identify,analyse and evaluate the seal carving on ancient Chinese paintings. This research uses qualitative approach related to the histo⁃ry in ancient Chinese painting by analysis of documents and interview(semi-structured). In which gives the importance of the historical research on interpretation of seal carving by the artists of Ni Zan and Wang Meng. The finding of the research showed that the interpreta⁃tion on seal carving of ancient Chinese painting is covered by the elements of art such as size,shapes,meaning,reading style,and co⁃lours. Findings of the research also showed that there was no difference seals carving between Ni Zan and Wang Meng paintings ,although both were from different dynasty. In addition,from the appearance of Ni Zan and Wang Meng paintings,the seals also increase the bal⁃ance,colours and recognizable in the painting. However,the experts were agreed that seals should not appear in large quantities in Chi⁃nese paintings,because it would affect the picture. On the whole,Ni Zan and Wang Meng painting also showed that the seals carving or painting was very important to the history of China and it can serve as a guide and reference for future research in the same research study . However,a number of advanced studies have been identified that could be conducted by future researchers.
