    查看更多>>摘要：隐喻是人类思维运作中的重要认知手段,涉及两个不同领域的元素事件.隐喻的运作基于不同范畴事物之间的相似性,其运作机制是将源域的特点向目标域投射,以熟悉的、具象的领域来代表不熟悉的、抽象的领域,常在文学中被用于进行各种抽象精神活动的描述.对于人类情感活动的隐喻的翻译是个难点,译文常显得生硬、缺乏情感表现力.本文以《Show Me All Your Scars》中的节选章节《A Day in the Life With Bipolar Illness——And Nine Years Later》的隐喻描写为例,分析了隐喻在心理活动描述中的特点与作用,并探讨了如何运用各种策略来进行翻译.

    Study of Second Language Writing:Contrastive Rhetoric——Cultural Thought P atterns in Inter-cultural Education by Robert B.Kaplan

    查看更多>>摘要：Contrastive rhetoric is an area of research in second language acquisition that identifies problems in composition en⁃countered by second language writers and, by referring to the rhetorical strategies of the first language, which attempts to explain them.The article"Cultural Thought Patterns in Inter-cultural Education by Robert B.Kaplan" indicates that different ways of under⁃standing language and writing styles.The English style is linear while the oriental is spiral.The author gives suggestions how to help those from other cultures learn how to write in acceptable academic English.However,he points out this is not because it is the cor⁃rect way but because it helps the students attain their goal of academic success.A student can write an adequate essay in his native language,can he write an adequate essay in a second language? In the following paragraphs,I will go to the details to present the lit⁃erature review,some case analysis,discussion and so on. It's about the contractive rhetoric based on the article of Robert B.Kaplan, then give conclusion.

    Translation of Magic Itemsin League of Legends from English into Chinese:Challenges and Proposed Techniques

    查看更多>>摘要：Over the past decades,video games have exploded in popularity,as thousands of enchanting games are released every year and millions of people become big fans of video games and this potential market offers plenty of working opportunities for transla⁃tors,especially for those who major on English to Chinese translation due to China's dense population and millions of players.Howev⁃er,there are several challenges in terms of translating video games,for example,coined words and ambiguous terms,because most of them exist in merely made-up stories and virtual worlds created by programmers.Though it is challenging to some extent,the presen⁃tation that I have done on translating magic spells in Harry Pottery and its feedback provide me with insights into the way I process translation of special terms.Hence,this paper will focus on translating magic items in the most popular online game—League of Leg⁃ends from English to Chinese and the purpose of this paper is trying to find ways to produce a high quality translation.By using differ⁃ent techniques,the translation need be readable and understandable for e-players in China or it could preserve its original flavor to maintain and attract more fans of this game.This paper will introduce general background information about this game and some magic items.Afterwards,it will point out potential challenges when translating these magic items and apply translation strategies and tech⁃niques to deal with the difficulties and,in turn,evaluating these approaches.Finally,some thoughts and viable methods for translating magic items in video game field will be surmised.
