Spatial patterns of species diversity and biomass in herbaceous layer of forest community in Tushan
Objective:To explore the spatial wariation of species dirersity and biomass in herbaceous layer of forest community at altitude gradient in Tushan. Methods:A field survey of herbaceous layer of forest community was conducted in Tushan Mountain in September 2021,the variation of plant height, cover age and aboveground biomass along the elevation gradient were investigated the impact of elevation gradient on species diversity and above-ground biomass and reveal their relationship with herbaceous layer of forest communities were discouered by exploring the quadrat method. Results:Remarkable differences existed among species composition of various elevation gradient, and the species richness in the medium elevation gradient was significantly lower than that in elevation gradient of low and high(P<0.05),while the proportion of importance value of dominant species in middle altitude gradient was the highest(94.0%).Furthermore,the indexes of Shannon-Wiener,Simpson and species richness in the medium elevation gradient were significantly lower than that in other elevation gradients(P<0.05),while the above-ground biomass was significantly higher than that in low elevation(P<0.05).In general, species diversity was presented a U-shaped distribution pattern with the increase of elevation, but above-ground biomass exhibited a unimodal distribution pattern.Additionally, apart from Pielou index, negative relationship significantly existed between the above-ground biomass and species diversity at elevation gradient(P<0.05),and positive relationship significantly existed between the above-ground biomass and height and coverage(P<0.05).Conclusion:The results preliminary revealed that significant difference of vertical distribution of species diversity and above-biomass in herbaceous layer of forest community in Tushan Mountain was affected by elevation gradient, which had a great scientific significance to understand the biodiversity of forest ecosystem vegetation community and revealed the present situation of forest ecosystem plant resources in the study area.
