A Study of A Small Place from the Perspective of Ecocriticism
A Small Place exposes the destruction of the natural environment and the objectification of nature in the Caribbean island of Antigua under the influence of neocolonial system of capitalism and the manipulation of foreign capital which breaks the bottom line of local ecological protection.The paper explores Kincaid's anger at environmental pollution through the forceful tone of the narrator,the narrative strategy of perspective shift,and the self-expression of anger.It also highlights Kincaid's vision of preserving ecological justice and her longing to regain a sense of belonging to her homeland.
