Reconstruction of Cultural Memory and Empowerment of Villagers in the Artistic Approach to Rural Construction:A Case Study of Hanxi Earth Art Festival
Cultural memory,as a collective ideology attached to regional cultural symbols and material systems,is an important factor in the construction of local groups'cultural confidence and identity, which can be continued and reshaped through the programming and spatial performance of different memory media. With the changes in modernization and social transformation, the loss of traditional life skills and cultural practices in the countryside,as well as the marginalization of the villagers in the rural power structure, have led to the gradual weakening of the villagers'cultural confidence and identity in the countryside.Addressing this issue, this paper takes the Earth Art Festival of Hanxi Village in Jingdezhen as a case, and explores how the project tackles the problem through reconstruction of cultural memory and empowerment of villagers, awakening villagers'confidence in their rural culture and their own identity, mobilizing villagers'subjective initiative, and promoting the construction and industrial development of the countryside, thus forming a new model of sustainable development for rural revitalization.
