The Development of New Rural Collective Economy, the Supply of Public Goods and the Relationship between Officials and the Public in Rural Areas
Based on the data of the China Labor-Force Dynamics Survey, this paper empirically examines the impact and mechanism of the new rural collective economic development on the relationship between officials and the public in rural areas by using the ordered Logit model. The results show that the development of new rural collective economy can significantly improve the relationship between them, with the increased supply of public goods serving as an important mechanism for this improvement.Specifically, the increase in the supply of production-oriented and life-oriented public goods plays a crucial role in this process.Further research finds that the improvement in this relation is more pronounced in villages with strong clan cultures and villages with management experience. Therefore,to improve the relationship,it is necessary to vigorously develop and expand the new rural collective economy, build a benefit distribution mechanism that takes into account both efficiency and fairness, and encourage the provision of diversified rural public goods through multiple approaches. All these measures can help reshape the village community and enhance the cohesion of the village.
