Radial Variation of Fiber Morphology of Different Poplar Clones
In this paper,5 different poplar clones grown in the forest station in the suburb of Tianchang city of Anhui Province were selected as the materials to study the radial variation of fiber length, fiber width, lumen diameter, double cell wall thickness, the ratio of fiber length to width, the ratio of cell wall to cell cavity and mi-crofibrillar angle. The results are as follows: 1 ) From pith outward, the fiber length, the fiber width and the rati-o of fiber length to fiber width of 5 poplar clones all increase with the increase of growth rings, reach maximum in a certain year and then decrease or level off. The suitable clone to make paper is Z9 and H22 according to the paper making properties. 2 ) The lumen diameter, double cell wall thickness and the ratio of cell wall to cell cavity all increase with the increase of growth rings. The ratio of cell wall to cell cavity ranged from 0. 28 to 0. 31, and the B3 clone is is suitable for paper material.
