Biomass model for polar-birch secondary forest saplings in Jingouling forest farm of Changbai Mountain, Northeast China
In order to provide complementary information of biomass of polar-birch secondary forest sapling, plot sampling method was applied into the understory species saplings, and allometric equations were used to simulate the sapling biomass.Sapling biomass of the dominant species can be well simulated in allometric equations, and ground diameter (D0) and tree height (H) were the optimal independent variables. The coefficient of determination was 0.9,and mean prediction error ranged from 5% to 49%; the precision of models using only ground diameter (D0) were lower than that of ground diameter (D0) and tree height (H).Negative association was observed between root-shoot ratio and ground diameter (D0),and no relevant between root-shoot ratio and tree height (H); sapling biomass of dominant species decreased with canopy density increased.
