Screening and evaluation of salt stress in 16 seedlings of buckwheat varieties
In order to clarify the difference of salt tolerance among buckwheat varieties under different kinds of salt stress, in this experiment, 16 buckwheat varieties were used as the materials, three single-salt treatments, such as NaCl, Na2SO4 and NaHCO3, were set up to study the effects of the germination rate, germination potential, relative damage rate, etc., and the salt tolerance of buckwheat was evaluated comprehensively. The results showed that there were significant differences in the response of buckwheat to the three kinds of salt stress. The germination rate, ger-mination potential, relative germination potential and relative germination indexes of 16 buckwheat varieties treated with NaHCO3 were relatively low, and the inhibition effect on germination of buckwheat seeds was the most obvious; the germination of buckwheat seeds was the least inhibited by NaCl, and the germination rates of buckwheat seeds of Zaqiao1, Pingqiao 2 and Chuanqiao 1 were the same as those of the control. The salt tolerance of buckwheat was higher in common buckwheat than Tartary buckwheat. By comprehensive evaluation of salt tolerance, Jiujiang Tar-tary buckwheat and Yunqiao 1 buckwheat were selected as the buckwheat varieties with strong salt tolerance, while Ningqiao 1 and Guihongtian 1 were selected as the common buckwheat varieties. These buckwheat varieties could be popularized in saline-alkali areas.
